It’s time to jump on the bandwagon and buy an electric scooter.
Put some money back in your pocket, park the car and enjoy the outdoors again.
The rage these days is electric scooters and you don’t want to be left behind.
Which is right for you? A three wheel electric scooter? A foldable electric scooter.
You need to take a few things into consideration before you go out and buy your slick, new means of transportation.
Yes, before you run to your local electric scooter store and throw your money on the counter, you need to consider a few things.
1. How are you planning to use your new scooter? If you are going to be riding when it is dark out, you need to find one that has a headlight. If you are only going to be using it during the daylight hours, your options are much bigger. Are you going to be traveling long distances?
A good rule of thumb is to get one that can either make it to your destination and back, or can make it as far as your destination providing that you have a method of charging it when you get there.
2. Is it for work or play? When you are looking nifty little vehicles, you need to select the one that best fits your needs. You don’t want to be stuck with something that will not satisfy all of your needs.
3. How far do you want it to take you ? When you are looking at electric scooters, you need to understand the principles behind maximum distance. When a dealer tells you that the maximum distance is say, 25 miles on a charge, what they are telling you is that based on the manufacturers specifications, the scooter will travel that distance carrying a person of average size.
Maximum Riding Distance?
The real question is, what is average these days? It depends on the country. Rule of thumb with this is not to expect that maximum distance. I tell customers at the shop, that depending on their body weight to expect anywhere from five to ten miles less than the indicated distance. There's no reason to tell them it will travel farther than it actually will, and leave them disappointed with their purchase.
4. How fast do you want to go? Depending on the scooter, you can average anywhere from ten to thirty miles per hour. Going back to the distance rules, the same applies with the speed rules. Depending on the weight that the scooter is carrying, the type of terrain that it is traveling on and even the weather; will determine how far your electric scooter will actually take you.
Electric scooters are a great mode of transportation for both work and play. Just the fact that you never again will be concerned with the price of gasoline is worth the price of admission. Understanding what you are getting and selecting the right electric scooter for your needs will make owning one an even more enjoyable experience. Take your time and get the right electric scooter for you.
